Unforgettable Encounter: Campers Wake Up to Thirsty Lionesses Outside Their Tent

Last Update:

A remarkable moment unfolded in the heart of Botswana’s Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park as a woman and her partner woke mere inches away from three thirsty lionesses, gently lapping water off the exterior of their tent.

Francie Francisca Lubbe and her companion had settled in for the night when the unexpected visitors made their presence known.

Despite the instinct for alarm, Lubbe expressed a sense of privilege at the close encounter with the majestic predators.

The scene, captured on video, showcases the lions delicately licking the dew-covered surface of the tent while the camera operator maintains a calm demeanor.

Notably, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, renowned prominent cat conservationists, commended the calm and composed reaction of the campers. “Too often people panic and misbehave when lions approach in the wild,” the Jouberts remarked.

“I appreciate what these travelers did and how they responded calmly and appreciative. Well done.”
