Lions, often seen as the dominant predators of the savanna, are known for their hunting skills and status as the “king of the jungle.” Yet, even these powerful animals have their moments of vulnerability.
In an unexpected and rare sight, a pride of lions was observed seeking shelter in a tree, trying to escape the nuisance of flies.

The stunning moment was captured by Australian photographer Bobby-Jo Clow, who was on a photographic safari in central Serengeti, Tanzania.
Clow shared how the group’s guide first spotted the lions perched among the branches. “We were lucky to get close enough for some unique shots,” he said.

The opportunity to capture such an unusual scene was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Clow, who even heard the lions snoring as he took photos.
While lions are known for their grace on the ground, they appear somewhat awkward in the trees.
The pride, which had gathered on a tree with wide branches, seemed unsteady, almost as if they might fall at any moment.

The tree’s broad horizontal branches provided enough space for the pride, but there wasn’t room for everyone to settle comfortably. Even the dominant male lion had to settle for a less ideal spot among the leaves.
The Serengeti, with its expansive protected areas like Serengeti National Park and surrounding game reserves, offers a rich ecosystem for wildlife.
Known for its large lion population, it provides an exceptional setting for observing these majestic animals, as well as a wide variety of other wildlife.
