Videos circulating online captured the moment the bear took a spontaneous dip in the Gulf of Mexico and then swiftly made its way onto a crowded beach.
As the bear emerged from the ocean, shaking its head to clear saltwater from its ears, onlookers realized it wasn’t a dog as initially thought. People gathered, some cautiously snapping photos while others warned to be careful.

Chris Barron, a witness to the unusual sight, described it as “insane” and shared a video on Twitter showing the bear swimming from far out in the ocean to shore.
Captain Chris Kirby of Charter Boat Backlash, familiar with such sightings near Eglin Air Force Base, commented that bear swims are not uncommon, especially as they sometimes take joy swims across the bay.
Florida hosts around 4,050 black bears, according to biologists from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
