Nancy, a dedicated volunteer at Magnificat Cat Rescue and Rehoming in Bronx, New York, transformed the life of a stray cat with a simple act of kindness.

She found a frail and grimy cat, his gait unsteady as he approached her for help, and decided to change his fate.

According to the rescue group’s spokesperson, “He walked up to Nancy, asking for help. He was very weak and unsteady. Nancy always carries cat food.

When she fed him, he devoured it.” Although she didn’t have a carrier that afternoon, Nancy returned to find him waiting in the same spot. It was then effortless to place the weary cat inside and get him the medical care he needed.

Nancy named the feline Attila. At the vet, he was treated for being extremely underweight, yet despite his condition, he was sweet and constantly purring. The staff noted his ravenous appetite, his spirits lifted, and he showed a friendly, curious nature.

Already neutered but unchipped, Attila spent the night at the vet, emerging much stronger. Finally rid of his painful, matted fur, he celebrated his newfound cleanliness and comfort.

Just two days after being rescued, Attila bounced back to health and was taken to a foster home. There, surrounded by care and affection, he settled in with ease. “We drove Attila to Kris Barone-Parente’s home.

He is alert, eating, and sociable with everybody, not just humans,” the rescue team shared. Surprisingly, Attila sought out the company of Kris’s other cats immediately, even sharing meals with them.

Though still very thin, his long legs and large frame indicated he would be a big cat under normal circumstances.

Attila began exploring his new environment slowly, taking wobbly steps but embracing his second chance at life. Content in his foster home, he was soon snuggling up to his foster parent, feeling safe enough to fall asleep on their chest.

His gentle nature was evident to everyone, including Kris’s cats, who welcomed him without hesitation. “It was as if they knew he was not well and needed their help,” noted the rescue group.

Now, after two days with his foster family, Attila is thriving, eating heartily, and growing more comfortable in his new surroundings. His love for food even prompts him to guard it while he eats.
