Scarlett Johansson’s Humorous Take on Santorum’s Sweater Vests

Last Update:

Hollywood’s penchant for political commentary reached new heights as actress Scarlett Johansson took a jab at former US Senator Rick Santorum’s fashion sense, specifically his fondness for sweater vests.

During a recent event, Johansson couldn’t help but express her amusement when asked about Santorum’s trademark attire, quipping, “Oh gosh, so sad.” She even humorously mentioned that her dad used to wear them.

Known for his affinity for sweater vests on the campaign trail, Santorum’s fashion choice became a topic of discussion. Johansson suggested they might be suitable for family photos or dinners with grandparents but questioned their appeal beyond that context.

She humorously added, “But I think you (can) wear a sweater vest ironically, right? Just go to the Lower East Side!”

Johansson’s remarks came during her participation in the “Runway to Win” fundraiser for President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign, co-hosted by Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour.

Attendees could purchase chic items from the Runway to Win line, although sweater vests were notably absent from the collection.

The event faced criticism from the Republican National Committee for its perceived extravagance amid economic challenges.

However, Johansson brushed off such critiques, asserting that the GOP lacked fashion sense compared to the Obamas, whom she described as having a “casual cool” demeanor.

In a lighthearted disclosure, Johansson shared her childhood trauma of being made to wear a sweater vest, known in Britain as a “tank top.”
