Scarlett Johansson: Fitness and Wellness Journey Revealed

Last Update:

Scarlett Johansson stays fit and maintains a size two by working out four times weekly. At 38, the actress has gained fame for her dynamic roles, including Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and cyber-human Mira in Ghost in the Shell.

However, she emphasizes that her fitness routine concerns mental wellness as physical health.

In a recent interview with Stylist, Johansson expressed, “Wellness is a huge part of my mental well-being. I try to exercise about four days a week if I can. I’ve been practicing Pilates for around eight years and find it amazing.” Standing at 5 feet 3 inches, her measurements are reportedly 36-25-36.

Johansson noted a shift in her fitness routine over the years. “I used to mainly lift weights, but as I’ve gotten older, my recovery time has changed,” she shared. “Pilates has helped me feel better in every way.”

She has been attending classes with various instructors and has recently started incorporating weightlifting into her regimen again, feeling more skilled thanks to her Pilates experience.

The actress also reflected on her struggles with acne during her teenage years. She revealed that looking at old photos from her late teens brought back “painful memories.” “I struggled with acne for a long time,” she admitted.

“My brother showed me some family pictures from when I was about 19, and my skin quality was completely different. Seeing that photo brought everything back.”

In the late 1990s, Johansson dealt with noticeable blemishes on her forehead. “I wore concealer to work in the morning, even though someone would apply makeup on me later,” she recalled.

She then described the negative messaging around acne, saying, “It was all so incorrect. I used every product I was prescribed and saw in the media, which only led to irritation and redness.”

Eventually, she reached a turning point. “By my mid-to-late 20s, I couldn’t take it anymore,” Johansson explained.

“I started using gentle products consistently and began moisturizing. Within a week, my skin transformed completely.”

Now, the Black Widow star has launched her skincare brand, The Outset. She shared that her friends were thrilled to hear about her new venture, believing it was something she should have pursued years ago. “When I told my friends I was starting a skincare line, they were like, ‘Finally!’” Johansson said.

“For them, it felt inevitable, but I never imagined entering the start-up world. The business-to-business space is a whole new industry for me, and while it’s challenging, it’s also incredibly rewarding.”

In August, Johansson showcased her stunning figure in an advertisement for David Yurman jewelry, wearing a pale blue dress and gold pieces from the Lexington collection.

Despite her high-profile career, she avoids social media due to its pressures. “I honestly am too fragile a person to have social media,” she confessed on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast. “My ego is too fragile; my brain is too fragile. I’m like a delicate flower.”
