Scarlett Johansson, renowned for her role as the lead in Black Widow, has filed a lawsuit against the Walt Disney Company, challenging its decision to release the film in both theaters and on the streaming platform Disney+ at the same time.
According to Johansson, Disney’s choice to debut Black Widow on streaming while still in theaters breached her contract.
She contends that this dual release significantly affected her earnings, as her salary relied heavily on the film’s box office performance, which was impacted by its availability on Disney+.
