Rescue workers from the Alley Cat Project responded to reports of cats and kittens living in dangerous conditions among vehicles and debris. They managed to save several felines, including two ginger kittens who found solace in each other.
A dedicated volunteer, Josh Norem took the kittens in as a foster parent. He created a cozy environment with soft spots and treats to help them adjust to their new surroundings.

However, the kittens were scared on their first night and huddled in a corner. One of them, named Twinkle Toes, was particularly shy, often hiding behind his more confident brother, Purr Monster.
Twinkle Toes, identifiable by his white “boots,” relied heavily on Purr Monster for reassurance as they navigated their new life.

By the second day, Purr Monster began to emerge from his shell, encouraged by the prospect of food and Josh’s gentle presence. He inched closer to Josh while Twinkle Toes continued to use him as a shield.
Initially, Twinkle Toes displayed typical signs of fear—hissing and retreating—but his attitude began to change once he tasted treats and enjoyed the warmth of a human lap. “He took about two days to stop hissing and let me pet him. It took about a week for him to calm down,” Josh told Love Meow.
As Purr Monster grew comfortable in his new home, he became affectionate, becoming a sweet lap cat. Twinkle Toes soon followed suit, curling up beside his brother on Josh’s lap and enjoying chin scratches.

Before long, the two kittens were purring together, content and snuggled. “These two are the very definition of love bugs,” Josh remarked.
Purr Monster has been described as the friendliest kitten, always eager to share affection. He will purr simply at the sight of a person and loves to follow Josh around, often jumping onto his lap as soon as he sits down to work. “He is unique, friendly, and loving,” Josh shared.
Twinkle Toes, while initially more reserved, has also blossomed in his foster care. “He has come out of his shell and will start purring within seconds of being touched,” Josh noted, adding that Twinkle Toes has a charming, high-pitched chirp when he’s happy.

The brothers share a deep bond, often grooming each other in perfect harmony. “They are a fantastic pair of very friendly, well-adjusted kittens,” Josh said.
Since arriving in their foster home, Twinkle Toes has made remarkable progress. He now enjoys being around people and even relaxes near the family dog, cherishing peaceful moments before the playful chaos begins.
With their second chance at life, these lively kittens thrive as cherished indoor pets. Twinkle Toes continues to lean on Purr Monster as they embark on this exciting new chapter together.
