Rescued Goldendoodle Daisy Finds Love and a New Home After Harrowing Neglect

Published on

The neglect and mistreatment some dogs endure at the hands of their owners is truly heartbreaking. Rather than offering the love and care these pets deserve, some individuals abandon and leave them in perilous conditions.

As a result, these animals suffer greatly as they struggle to survive on their own.

Daisy, a young Goldendoodle, is one such victim of this neglect. Her owner’s failure to provide her with basic necessities like food and care left her weak and malnourished.

Daisy’s plight was shared with her sibling, who also suffered, both running out of time fast.

Summer Ipock stumbled upon Daisy’s story while browsing a lost-and-found dog group on Facebook. A post by a Tulsa, Oklahoma resident stated that her neighbor’s dogs were being neglected for days.

Tragically, one dog had already died, leaving Daisy in a dire situation. Despite notifying local authorities, the woman saw no action taken.

That’s when Ipock stepped in. Having a particular fondness for doodles, she couldn’t get Daisy out of her mind. Ipock took it upon herself to investigate and rescue Daisy. She tracked down the address and discovered the occupants were renters.

Attempts to contact the landlords were unsuccessful. When Ipock reached out to animal control, they informed her that the dogs’ owner had been advised to take them to a vet, with a follow-up planned for the next day.

However, no one showed up by lunchtime.

Alarmed by the new locks on the gates and a makeshift dog house—signs of an attempt to conceal Daisy’s condition—Ipock suspected the dog’s life was in imminent danger.

Heavy rain compounded these fears since the impromptu shelter was hardly adequate. Urgently, Ipock offered Daisy’s owner $500 to surrender her, enlisting the help of a friend who is a police officer to facilitate the exchange.

Remarkably, the owner agreed without resistance.

Upon meeting Daisy, the severe state of the Goldendoodle’s condition became clear to Ipock. Daisy was mostly hairless, with discolored, flaking skin and visible ribs and spine from malnutrition. She required shaving to free her from tangled mats.

Despite her hardship, Daisy immediately sought affection. Ipock rushed her to a vet for emergency care. Tests revealed hookworm infestations, an elevated white blood cell count, a skin infection, mild anemia, and fleas.

Daisy was administered dewormer, antibiotics, flea treatments, and a thorough bath. The vet staff commended her cooperative demeanor.

Daisy underwent a spaying procedure and had her ears thoroughly cleaned. Vets determined Daisy was just two years old. It wasn’t long before she adapted to Ipock’s home and bonded with her other pets.
