In a remarkable tale of survival, a sun bear managed to attract the attention of animal workers by signaling for help after being ensnared in a trap on Borneo.
The bear, later named Belia by rescuers, was trapped near an illegal rubber plantation, where workers from Indonesia’s Jejak Pulang Foundation came to her aid.

Despite the harrowing ordeal, rescuers were able to free Belia from the snare, although her paw required amputation due to the severity of the injury.
She was swiftly transported to a rescue center operated by Four Paws, where she underwent treatment and recovery.

After eight days of dedicated care, Belia, a two-year-old female, showed remarkable resilience. She was released back into the wild at the exact location where she was found, with rescuers optimistic about her ability to adapt to her altered condition.
