One such tale involves Maru, a bullmastiff who embarked on a remarkable journey spanning 200 kilometers (125 miles) in search of the owner who callously left her behind.
Maru, just one year old, was put on a train destined for the kennel where she was born after her owner claimed to be allergic and unwilling to keep her longer.
During the journey, Maru sensed something amiss and, in a desperate bid to reunite with her owners, she managed to pry open a compartment door with her paws and escape at a remote station when the train stopped.
Despite the frantic efforts of train staff to locate her, Maru remained elusive.
Shockingly, they displayed no remorse when Maru’s owners were informed of her disappearance. Their indifference to her plight was deeply troubling, as Alla, the kennel owner, recounted.
Thankfully, after two and a half days of wandering, Maru was found, exhausted, and injured near her former home.
Rescuers found her with blistered paws and a broken jaw, evoking the heartbreaking sight of a dog seemingly in tears.
Maru’s arduous journey through rugged terrain spanning 200 kilometers could have ended tragically, but she persevered against the odds, escaping the jaws of bears and wolves.
“Alla,” the kennel owner, described Maru’s condition upon rescue, highlighting her exhaustion and numerous injuries, including broken paws and damaged foot pads.
Despite her ordeal, Maru is now safe and under care, gradually recuperating at the kennel where her journey began.
This touching tale serves as a poignant reminder of the profound bond between humans and their canine companions and the resilience and loyalty of dogs like Maru.
