The complexities surrounding Angelina Jolie’s family deepen as the biological mother of her adopted daughter Zahara, Mentewab Dawit Lebiso, steps forward, sharing her poignant desire to connect with her daughter.

Zahara, now 12 years old, was adopted by the Oscar-winning actress from Ethiopia after Mentewab was compelled to relinquish her due to tragic circumstances involving rape.

In an emotional appeal to the media, Mentewab expressed her longing to establish communication with Zahara, pleading, “Please just let me talk to my daughter. I want her to know that I am alive and here and long to be able to speak with her.”

Despite her heartfelt desire for involvement in Zahara’s life, Mentewab clarifies that she isn’t seeking to regain custody. Instead, she hopes for the opportunity to maintain contact and engage with her daughter.

Mentewab praises Jolie and her former husband, Brad Pitt, for nurturing Zahara’s care, acknowledging, “Angelina has been more of a mother to her than I have ever been.”

Mentewab’s account reveals that Jolie was under the impression that Zahara was orphaned, unaware that her biological mother was alive during the adoption process in 2005.

With a heartfelt plea, Mentewab emphasizes her wish for Zahara to know of her Ethiopian heritage and her love for her daughter, asserting, “I would like Zahara to know she has a mother who loves her as much as Angelina… I would ask Angelina to let me speak with her. I do not think it is too much to ask.”
