In a small neighborhood in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, a homeowner stumbled upon a stray cat in a dire situation.
This feline was suffering from mange, a skin condition caused by parasites that often leads to itching, hair loss, and skin sores. The condition had worsened to the point where the cat was nearly blind, its eyes completely crusted over.

Driven by hunger, the cat eagerly devoured any food it could find, even managing to wander into a pet carrier in pursuit of kibble.
On closer examination, it was evident that the cat, later named Cotton, was not only severely afflicted by mange but also dehydrated and malnourished.
The next day, Carmen Morales Weinberg, the founder of a local animal rescue organization, took Cotton to a veterinarian for immediate attention.
Cotton was treated with antibiotics, flea medication, and given much-needed hydration. In a surprising show of resilience, Cotton purred contentedly throughout the entire vet visit.
Carmen welcomed Cotton into her home to oversee his recovery. Amazingly, within just a few days, the crust that had sealed his eyes began to clear away, revealing his eyes for the first time.
It turned out Cotton had heterochromia, which gave him one blue eye and one gold eye, contributing to his striking appearance as his beautiful white fur grew back.
As Cotton’s health improved, so did his appetite, allowing him to reach a healthy weight. He quickly formed a deep bond with Carmen and her family, expressing his gratitude with affection and vocal requests for attention.
He adjusted well to his new indoor life, often exploring the plants in his newfound environment—perhaps a nod to his adventurous past.
During Cotton’s time with his rescuers, it was discovered that he had been microchipped. Contact with his previous owner revealed that Cotton had gone missing some time earlier.
Unfortunately, the owner could no longer care for him and chose not to reclaim him.
Happily, Cotton has found a permanent home with Carmen and her family. He is now a loving and affectionate companion who even gives kisses, a rare trait in cats.
Cotton seems to have embraced his new life, enjoying the comforts and security it brings.
