When Briana Flores and her team from iPittytheBull, a nonprofit organization based in Chino, California, got a call about a dog needing help, they immediately headed out to the scene. There, under a broken-down car, was a terrified dog with a solemn expression.
Although they spoke gently to the dog, she remained motionless, too frightened to respond. Flores then offered the scared pup some food. Upon catching the scent, the hungry dog crept out slightly and began to eat.

As they coaxed the dog, who later came to be known as Stella, to feel safe, they realized they were in for more than a routine rescue. Despite showing some trust, Stella remained reluctant to leave her shelter under the car.
The rescuers kept offering her food, patiently waiting until she felt secure enough to venture out. Eventually, Stella allowed Flores to put a leash around her neck. Though she froze initially, more food and gentle encouragement helped calm her down.
After fifteen minutes, Stella emerged from her hiding place. Once they saw her up close, the rescuers were heartbroken by her state. Stella was severely malnourished, weak, and covered in wounds. Her swollen belly prompted questions about a possible pregnancy.
The team gently helped her into their car, where she sat with a look of profound sadness. Her injuries were more evident up close, especially on her head and neck.

Recognizing the urgency of her situation, Flores and her team rushed Stella to a veterinary clinic in Anaheim, California. Initially assuming she might be pregnant, the veterinary team was shocked by the X-ray results. Stella’s stomach was filled with sharp objects. The scan also showed lung bruising and a torn intestine. Her condition was dire, and the vets labored tirelessly to save her.
Her rescuers suspected Stella had endured abuse before managing to escape to safety. To their relief, Stella started to improve, bringing a sense of hope.
Once stabilized, Flores and her husband John, iPittytheBull’s founder, brought Stella home to foster her, showering her with love and care. Under their nurturing guidance, Stella began to mend both physically and emotionally.

Eight days later, Stella showed remarkable healing, with her wounds and lung injuries healed, and the sharp objects passing without further complications. Her swift recovery astounded the veterinary team.
“The vets can’t explain how she healed so quickly; they can only read what they see on the X-rays. Our girl is expected to make a 100% complete recovery, bringing her one step closer to her forever home,” the rescue group shared on Facebook.
Despite everything she had experienced, Stella remained remarkably forgiving, bonding closely with her foster family and finding joy in daily walks. Her spirit and strength inspired everyone who met her.
When Stella was ready, she found a loving family who embraced her instantly. Leaving her difficult past behind, Stella began a new chapter, finally living the happy life she deserved, thanks to her dedicated rescuers and foster families.
