No dog should ever face the distress of abandonment, which can leave them with enduring emotional wounds. However, the hope is that kind-hearted people will step in to help these animals recover and find happiness once more.
This was the case one evening in Newark, New Jersey, where a dog named Mia was found tied to a fence with just a small blanket, some food, and a bowl of water alongside her.
Left in the darkness, Mia awaited her owner’s return, but no one came back for her.

Fortunately, some compassionate individuals discovered Mia alone and took swift action. Yasmin, a dedicated volunteer from Jersey Pits Rescue, was deeply moved when she arrived at the scene.
According to The Dodo, Yasmin said, “I just got a call about an abandoned Pitbull. They left her here with a blanket and food and water.”
Mia’s naturally affectionate and gentle demeanor shone through immediately. She wagged her tail and offered a hopeful smile, as if she knew her rescuer had arrived.

Although it was late at night, Yasmin opted to stay with Mia in her car, not wanting to disturb her own dogs at home. Together, they bonded over treats, which helped calm Mia’s nerves.
The following morning, Mia was given a flea treatment and welcomed temporarily into Yasmin’s home. In a Facebook post, the rescue organization shared, “Mia is the sweetest, most precious little soul we have ever met.
We have no idea how a dog that was abandoned in this way can still be so resilient and loving.”

Mia quickly adjusted to her new environment, exhibiting manners and behaviors that indicated she used to be a well-loved pet. Jersey Pits Rescue noted, “She is very low maintenance and happy just to be around her people.
She walks nicely on leash, takes treats gently, and absolutely LOVES kids! Mia does not mind being in her crate and knows to use the bathroom outside.”
Mia showed a great deal of affection, getting along with Yasmin’s cat and other pets while craving the company of children and attention from everyone around. Her transition into this new, caring environment allowed her personality to flourish.

A few days later, Mia had another positive change when the rescue introduced her to a foster dad named David. Mia immediately ran to him, forming an instant connection and clinging to him as if she knew he was her forever person.
Over time, Mia became what is lovingly referred to as a “foster fail” — David and his family found themselves unable to part with Mia, and they decided to adopt her permanently.
Today, Mia’s life is filled with joy, companionship, and adventure with her beloved new family. She will never face abandonment again; her past fears have been replaced entirely by love and happiness.
