In a tale of bravery and loyalty, a courageous canine named Rocky displayed remarkable courage by chasing away a mountain lion to protect his family in La Verne, California.
Panic ensued when Mary Padres found herself face to face with a large, wild mountain lion in her garden. Recounting the encounter, Mary described the lion as “huge” and looming menacingly.

Reacting swiftly, both of Mary’s dogs sprang into action, barking ferociously to intimidate the intruder.
But it was Rocky, a seven-year-old Pit Bull mix, who exhibited extraordinary bravery by fearlessly confronting the mountain lion.
With barks echoing through the air, Rocky chased the much larger and more formidable predator, driving it away from the property and up a nearby hill.
Despite the imminent danger, Mary’s family rushed outside to aid Rocky, even as the lion remained dangerously close.
Their courageous puppy was later found injured on the hillside behind their home. Rocky had sustained a deep head wound, requiring 30 stitches to mend. Despite his injuries, Rocky’s bravery saved his family from harm.
Mary Padres expressed immense pride in Rocky, acknowledging his valiant effort and protecting them. “[He’s] absolutely a fighter,” she remarked, emphasizing his fitting name.
