As Frazier approached the vehicle, he was ambushed by three men who quickly overpowered him. The attackers began dragging him toward the woods, and it became clear that their intentions were sinister. Outnumbered and in grave danger, Frazier’s life hung by a thread.
What the attackers didn’t anticipate was the presence of Frazier’s loyal and well-trained K-9 partner, Lucas. Sitting inside the patrol car, Lucas was waiting for a signal. Despite the chaos, Frazier managed to press a button that unlocked the car’s back door. Instantly, Lucas sprang into action, charging at the attackers with unyielding ferocity.
The ambush quickly turned into a rescue as Lucas lunged at the assailants, forcing them to abandon their attack and flee the scene. Although both Frazier and Lucas suffered injuries during the skirmish, they emerged alive, thanks to Lucas’s quick response and bravery. “He saved my life that night,” Frazier has repeatedly said, emphasizing the extraordinary bond between officer and K-9.
Following the incident, Lucas received the Brookhaven Animal League Rescue Hero of the Year award for his heroic actions.
