Bear’s Head Rescued: Colorado Wildlife Officers Remove Bucket After Week-Long Ordeal

A bear in the foothills west of Boulder, Colorado, had a harrowing week-long ordeal with a chicken feeder stuck on its head. Alert residents reported the distressed animal, enabling wildlife officers to intervene.

The rescue, captured on video, shows the moment officers from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) successfully removed the bucket. CPW shared the video on Thursday, highlighting it as a “wildlife rescue success story.”

The rescue effort began when Boulder resident Drew McConaughy and his friend Dave Sherman noticed the bear while working on a cabin. Concerned for the bear’s well-being, they reported the sighting to authorities.

Responding to the report, wildlife officers tracked the bear and used ladders to reach it. After tranquilizing the bear, they safely removed the bucket.

“We rely heavily on the public to report such activities and help us locate animals in distress,” said Jason Clay, spokesman for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, in an interview with The Denver Channel.
