Andrea Arnold Announces New Film Featherwood Starring Scarlett Johansson

Last Update:

Director Andrea Arnold, known for her unique storytelling, has announced her next feature film, Featherwood, a crime thriller based on true events. Scarlett Johansson is set to take the lead role in the upcoming project, according to Deadline.

Arnold is currently finalizing her latest movie, Bird, starring Barry Keoghan and Franz Rogowski, and is already gearing up for this new venture.

Featherwood will follow the story of Rebecca Blevins, a woman who became an invaluable FBI informant during a six-year operation targeting the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT), a violent neo-Nazi crime syndicate involved in murder, drugs, and other criminal activities.

Blevins, who lived among ABT members, gathered crucial information that prevented violent acts and helped convict 13 key individuals within the gang.

Her undercover work came with a personal cost, however, leaving her with lasting physical and emotional scars and forcing her to live under the constant threat of retaliation from the ABT.

While the production schedule for Featherwood has not yet been confirmed, Johansson’s current commitments allow flexibility, suggesting that filming could start soon if it secures funding at the European Film Market (EFM).

In related news, French director Bruno Dumont has also announced his next project, Red Rocks, a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set on the French Riviera during summer. Screen Daily reports that production is set to begin this year.

Deadline reports that Dan Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison are co-writing an undisclosed project with casting in progress, though plot details and release plans remain under wraps.
