Xander Mellor, a 6-year-old from Springfield, Illinois, had been diligently saving for a puppy for 18 months.
Every day, he would politely ask his grandmother, Natalie Ellenburg, for any spare change she had after work and put it into his savings container.

Despite his young age, Xander made sacrifices by refraining from buying sweets and treats to achieve his dream of having a furry companion. When his grandparents learned about his heartfelt mission, they decided to make his wish come true.
In a touching video capturing the moment, Xander’s excitement is palpable as he spots his grandparents’ car pulling up to the house.
With anticipation building, he eagerly rushes out to meet them. As he approaches the car, his grandmother instructs him to close his eyes and stretch out his arms for a “present.”
With his eyes tightly shut, Xander waits in anticipation, and when he feels something placed in his hands, his eyes widen in disbelief. Upon opening them, he is met with the adorable sight of a puppy cradled in his arms.
