I stumbled upon Mau, a nearly two-year-old puppy, in a state of utter distress in a cemetery. He appeared as a mere skeleton, severely emaciated, dehydrated, and barely breathing. Despite his dire condition, passersby overlooked him, assuming he was beyond saving.

Moved by his plight, tears welled in my eyes as I approached Mau. Without hesitation, I scooped him up and hurried away from the dismal scene.

With veterinary clinics closed due to the holiday, I had no choice but to bring him home, desperately trying to provide nourishment, but he refused to eat, appearing defeated.

At 8 am the following day, we rushed Mau to the animal hospital. Concerned for his well-being, the doctor promptly ordered an MRI, suspecting a spinal issue.

The results revealed the grim reality—Mau had sustained two gunshot wounds, one in his chest and another in his spine, deeply embedded and challenging to remove.

His liver, kidney, and digestive functions were severely compromised, posing additional challenges.

Despite the odds stacked against him, Mau showed remarkable resilience as the medical team worked tirelessly to address his injuries. However, the trauma had taken its toll, rendering him unable to walk.

Yet, amid the adversity, the most important thing was that Mau remained in my care, a testament to his unwavering spirit.

After a prolonged and arduous recovery, Mau our brave and stoic companion, was finally discharged from the hospital.
