During a routine flight from Florida to Massachusetts, a French Bulldog named Darcy was distressed, prompting an extraordinary intervention from compassionate flight attendants.
Darcy’s owner, Michele Burt, noticed something unusual when the usually obedient pup failed to respond to commands to lie down.
Concerned, Burt checked on her and discovered that Darcy’s tongue had turned blue, indicating a lack of oxygen and potential danger.
Quick to act, Burt pulled Darcy out from under the seat and onto her lap in an attempt to cool her down and provide comfort.
However, Darcy’s condition did not improve, and her breathing remained labored, signaling a need for immediate assistance.
Flight attendants Asher and Fenster disregarded protocol to aid Darcy despite airline policies mandating pets to remain under seats.
Initially, they attempted to soothe her with bags of ice, but Fenster suggested using an oxygen mask when that proved ineffective.
The swift response and care provided by the attendants proved crucial. Within minutes of receiving oxygen, Darcy regained alertness, and her condition stabilized. Burt expressed her gratitude, acknowledging the attendants’ actions as life-saving.
In a letter of appreciation to JetBlue, Burt commended the crew for their exemplary service. JetBlue, in turn, emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers, including furry ones like Darcy.
