Gracie’s discovery left her rescuers stunned by her dire condition. Pregnant and severely undernourished, she was a mystery in terms of her previous owners and the circumstances leading to her abandonment. Judging by her state, it appeared she was close to giving birth.
The New York team swiftly moved Gracie to a shelter, offering her immediate medical attention along with much-needed nourishment and hydration. However, a shelter was not ideal for her needs. A foster home, where Gracie could receive continuous attention, was far better suited.
Gracie was soon comfortably settled into foster care. The warmth and tranquility of her new environment were a relief, and she finally rested easy.
Just a few days after her rescue, Gracie began to give birth. Supported by her foster family, she chose a cozy spot, and soon enough, she became a proud mother to three healthy puppies.
The heartwarming news was shared by the New York rescuers through a video on their Instagram, bringing joy to many followers. Comments poured in, with one person suggesting Gracie needed nutritious food and soft bedding to support her as she cared for her pups.
“Congratulations Gracie. You are going to be a good mom,” another follower noted.
The tender care Gracie showed her new babies was touching, reflecting her instincts as a doting mother. For now, she and her puppies will enjoy the nurturing environment of their foster home. Meanwhile, the rescuers are preparing to put them up for adoption.
