Approaching the overcrowded dumpsters, he discovered two very young puppies lying on the trash heap. Though they initially seemed to be asleep, it was clear they were in poor health, fighting for survival.

The puppies, barely a month old, were left without their mother, seemingly abandoned by someone who showed no concern for their well-being.

Upon receiving the urgent call about the puppies, rescue workers Lina Patino and Jennifer Ponsford quickly responded, racing to the bus station.

They swiftly gathered the puppies and drove them to the rescue’s shelter.

The puppies were in dire condition, plagued by ticks, parasites, and malnourishment while battling to stay alive.

“They were malnourished. We provided them with food, water, antiparasitic medicine, and applied a tick repellent. The first 24 hours they were so downhearted and listless I was afraid they wouldn’t survive,” Patino told The Dodo.

Named Enrique and Beto, the team hoped for their recovery.
