Many people regret not rescuing a dog in need, missing out on the unique personalities and hidden talents that each dog can possess. Such is the case with Mocha, a dog who has revealed a remarkable knack for nurturing foster kittens.
Mocha’s journey began when Sabria Hector, a dedicated rescuer at Montego Bay Animal Haven, found her in dire straits. Suffering from a badly injured leg, Mocha struggled to move with ease. Despite her initial challenges, a few weeks of tender loving care transformed Mocha into a beloved member of the community.

“Mocha had a broken leg and was initially very shy. Walking with the splint wasn’t easy, but she tried her best,” shared Montego Bay Animal Haven on Facebook. The patience and care she received helped her bond with Sabria, eventually leading to her adoption into a forever home.
However, Mocha’s story didn’t end there. Sabria soon discovered Mocha’s surprising talent. When a newborn kitten named Grogu came into their care, Sabria was unsure how Mocha would react. Cautiously keeping them apart at first, she soon noticed Mocha’s nurturing instincts kick in.
Without hesitation, Mocha began caring for Grogu as if he were her own, helping with everyday needs like cleaning and potty training. “Mocha has taken on the role of surrogate foster mom. She helps clean him up after feedings and loves to cuddle with him,” noted Montego Bay Animal Haven.

While Mocha wasn’t particularly fond of puppies, she had a natural affinity for kittens. She ignored the comings and goings of canine babies in Sabria’s home, but with kittens, she became a doting guardian. Grogu eventually found a permanent home in Pennsylvania, but Mocha’s fostering duties continued.
Acting as both a nurturing mother figure and a big sister, Mocha looked after countless kittens, ensuring they played safely. Today, she thrives in her role as a co-mom, helping many kittens grow into healthy, happy cats. This incredible journey all began with nurturing Grogu, the first of many she would help guide to their full potential.
