Cinder, a charming little kitten, quickly became the unofficial mascot for anyone who has ever needed a cup of coffee to lift their spirits. Though she was the smallest and frailest in her litter, her remarkable journey has captured many hearts.
Along with her siblings, Cinder arrived at a rescue center in Southern California in dire need of care.
While all were malnourished, Cinder was the weakest, weighing just 124 grams when she should have been nearly double that weight. Despite her fragile state, there was a spark in Cinder that inspired hope for her survival.

At just three and a half weeks old, Cinder appeared more like a newborn. Her tiny, bony body and her sad little expression tugged at the heartstrings of anyone who saw her.
Her foster mother, Kimmi, shared Cinder’s condition on Instagram, remarking, “I think she must be one of the most emaciated kittens I have taken on.”
While her siblings remained lively in their incubator, Cinder was too weak to join in the fun. However, she craved one thing above all else—comfort and warmth from being held.

Kimmi, ever hopeful, watched over her, waiting for signs of improvement.
Then, one day, Cinder emitted a faint but steady purr. This was the moment Kimmi had been waiting for, proof that Cinder was starting to find her strength.
With love, medication, and fluids, Cinder gradually began to show signs of recovery. Despite not yet looking her best, she started to play with her littermates, displaying her unique sass and charm.

Kimmi frequently updated Cinder’s growing group of supporters, sharing amusing photos captioned with cheeky remarks. One particular image, where Cinder appeared in desperate need of coffee, caught on quickly.
Her adorably grumpy face resonated with many, earning her a spot on t-shirts with captions like “No coffee, no talkie,” making Cinder a mini-celebrity in her own right.
As time passed, Cinder transitioned to a diet of kitten food and formula, eagerly diving into her meals even if it left her fur sticky, often requiring a gentle bath afterward.

Cinder’s journey from a frail kitten to a vibrant, two-pound young cat amazed everyone who followed her story.
Now healthy and full of life, Cinder, thanks to the Love Your Feral Felines rescue, is ready to find her forever home with her siblings. Adoring soft blankets, cuddles, and other feline friends, she awaits the perfect family to share her love with.

Cinder may have needed extra care initially, but she’s now prepared to offer that same affection—and plenty of attitude—to her future humans.
Here’s to Cinder, the little “underkitten” who defied the odds and became a heartwarming success story in the animal rescue world!
