A once-wild tabby cat named Lipstick has discovered the comfort and safety of a loving home just in time for the arrival of her kittens.

Lipstick had spent her entire life fending for herself outdoors. “My mother and a neighbor began feeding her about a year ago. I took over most of her care last summer,” shared Katie Lanza with Love Meow.
During a severe snowstorm in New Jersey on January 22nd and 23rd, Lipstick went missing. Lanza and her family soon discovered her trapped under a porch in the neighborhood.
“Once we rescued Lipstick, we realized she was pregnant. My mother and I decided we had to bring her inside,” Lanza explained.
Knowing the harsh winter temperatures were imminent and with Lipstick expecting, the family was determined to provide her with warmth and safety. The rescue process, however, required weeks of patience and gentle care.
On a particularly cold Valentine’s Day in 2016, Lipstick ventured into the warmth of the Lanza family kitchen. “We kept our pets upstairs and set out some hamburger pieces. Finally, she came inside,” Lanza recounted to Love Meow.
Understanding that the humans meant only well for her and her kittens, Lipstick settled in. She gave birth to four adorable kittens on March 2, 2022.
“After their birth and Lipstick’s cleaning, we moved them to a cozy bed with a heating pad to keep them warm,” Lanza noted.
Lipstick showers her kittens with love and attentive care. “She’s incredibly sweet but fiercely protective. She allows me to weigh them and ensure they are feeding well, but will gently remind me when I’ve held them long enough,” explained Lanza.
Though it’s suspected there are two males and two females, their eyes have yet to open, and their genders are not confirmed. Nevertheless, they are already showing strength.
It’s remarkable to think Lipstick was feral her entire life. This is the power of love and kindness!
